I have my gain maxed out, and will often turn my deck as high as it will go... stupid low voltage preouts...

I never touch my bass boost though, and my front speakers are run off the deck, and start smelling funny after a while... lol

Get a line driver too, boost that signal. Make sure to put the line drivers levels all the way up too. Matrix from audio control is fabulous, 13v at peak.

volume is the gain just on the HU. I know what your trying to say but gain and volume are essentially the same. Turn either of the two too high and clipping will follow
