did i mess up my sub?

I dropped some change in my box the other day by accident so I took my sub out of the box and when I put it back in i accidentally hooked the wires up backwards. when i turned it on it sounded like ****. so i switched it back but now it still sounds like ****. I only played the subs for a few seconds before i turned them off. and everything looks normal. What are the odds that i messed something up?

anyway, I'm using two jl 12w3's 4ohm with a mono amp thats 1000 watts at 2 ohms. I have two sets of wires (4 total) coming from my amp. I just hook positive to positive and negative to negative on both subs right?
