Ok guys its not nothing special but I have a profile baja HA1040 its a 4 channel amp with 75x4 power. Ive had it for about a year now but today I was bumping kind of loud but nothing i didnt set the gains to handle for the amp but my amp quit out on me. I went to look in the trunk and the power wire which is 4ga and is crimped melted through the plastic that surrounds the power terminal...It was still plugged in but the amp wont turn on...no lights at all...Did I just melt the connection for the power terminal???? The terminal is hanging lower than the rest with the melted plastic around it..No fuses blown...I can get pictures tomorrow when I take it out...

Can I get some more info though??? I mean I dont want to go out and buy another amp and have this happen again...Im still learning. I know the gains were set normally as they have not changed in the year that Ive been bumping that amp at 3/4th the amp power. So what could of caused this to happen. I mean the crimp was hot when I touched it but what would cause it to get that hot.

Well here are some pics of the amp..

I looked inside and nothing looks burnt and I cant smell anything inside but I see the terminal did come off of the main board though so thats why the lights arent cutting on. What would need to be done to fix this and is it worth it??? I was gonna try and see if this can be fixed cheaply and just sell it because Im looking at buying some other amp right now.

Also I was planning on buying this refurbished amp....but I had a question. Is it relatively safe to buy refurbished amps??? I would like for the amp that Im about to buy to last maybe a year or two at the max so if I can expect that them im ok with it.

Well I did just install some 693.5i in about 2 weeks ago but thats the only thing in my setup that has changed...I also had the rear gains turned down with a low pass filter on all the speakers. i had 4ga power and ground wire running from it. The 4ga power wire is on a distributor block though for my sub amp. What can cause something like that to happen??

Well when I touched the amp it wasnt hot at all...But maybe it was the ground....I touched the ground as soon as the amp went out and it was very hot...But thats weird cuz Ive been using the same ground for about 2 years now...

It's probably not cheap to pay someone else to fix it. I can't imagine it would be less than $100 plus double shipping. That's just a guess.
