So I just placed the order for the setup of the interior of my car:

HU

Kenwood Excelon x790

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16899

6.5s

Infinity Kappa 60.7cs (100rms-300max, 95db, 45-25k FR, 2 ohm, 18db crossover)

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=15366

6x9s

Infinity Kappa 693.7i (110rms-330max, 95db, 35-25k FR, 2 ohm)

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=15369

Now the amp.. that's where things got interesting. Originally I had priced a PG 8:0 4 for my order to run my the above speakers ( http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=12979 )

But they said they were out of them when I ordered, primarily because they were getting complaints for that amp and didn't keep it stocked because of this. He instead referred me to their MA Audio amp ( http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_2676.html ) who's stats actually LOOK better than the PG.

He also gave it to me for the price of the PG (I think a $10-20 difference??). It was sort of spru-of-the-moment, so I went for it.

Did I get screwed or did I get a good deal?

it's internal speakers... given the quality of Infinity and the excess power I'll have from the amp, I'm not too worried about the SQ... I just wanted to make sure I wasn't making a huge mistake.

Besides, it was a bit of a challenge in the first place trying to find something that would put out 110x4@2 that wasn't $700-800 lol.

I can't stand Kappa's, ever since 98 there speakers, to me, have always been a bit cheaply made..

Sound goood, but it's like they used cheaper than cheap *** glue and surrounds..

IMO...

Lol.. seriously?? I've been researching them pretty hardcore for the past few weeks, talking to people who spec systems, people who own them, people who own them *and* spec systems.. and I've gotten great reviews from everyone.

I guess it fits that the first bad review comes right after I actually send the order through lol.

And yes, the kappas run at 2 ohms. I was originally going to go with infinity perfects, but they run at 4ohms. Seeing as the 6x9s run at 2ohms, I would have bought 2 separate amps... one for the perfects and one for the 6x9s.

However, after reviewing the kappa stats, they are actually better than the perfect stats and seem to complement the 6x9s better... *and* they can run on the same amp!

perfect 6.1 stats: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=12200

100rms-400max

90db sensitivity

75-23k FR

24 db crossover

4ohm

60.7cs stats: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=15366

100rms-300max

95db sensi

45-25k FR

18db cross

2ohm

Infinity comps in recent years have been famous for their inability to reproduce midbass very well, and their extremely harsh tweeters. Lots better choices in that price range.

You could of spend similar amount and been happy with the SQ....
He is going to be happy with the SQ, don't be a dickhead. Someone tells you about their system and you essentially tell them they could have spent a similar amount of money on equpiment that's actually good, it's not necessary. If they're happy with the sound, that's all that matters.

Lol.. it's ok... I chat on a LOOOOOOT harsher boards than this. I can take the criticism.

Quite frankly, I just look at this as a learning experience. I make more than enough money to play around w/this stuff.. so I'm not really too worried about poor choices in the first 3 weeks or so that I start looking this stuff up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

For instance, there's been a LOT of debate over rear fill vs no rear fill to vent subs.

I went ahead and bought the 6x9s, because it will be a few weeks before I decide on sub(s)/amp. When I do get my subs, I can try with and without rear fill till my heart's content. Meanwhile, I'll have nice SQ listening to my 6x9s.

It's really hard to just KNOW everything there is to know about car audio w/out having experienced it firsthand...

Simmer down just being honest. I'm not talking out my ***, just offering my personal experience and opinion. The last set of comps I had were Infinitys, and they were quite poor compared to my current setup.

Another suggestion. Don't take advice from the people who recommended Infinity comps as da bomb lol. Sorry for pooping on your thread, but the truth almost always hurts.

I dont know if you got owned but I don't like infinity anymore. I thought they sounded good when they were in my car but the cone cracked on one and the surrond seperated from the cone. was feeding them 40w and they were 40w speakers.
