Did i get a good deal on this sub?

In my car i only have interior speakers and amp no bass, been driving around like that for about a week now its time to get some thumping in the trunk so i bought a 12'' W6V2-D4 sub off craigslist i don't know too much about JL but i got the sub for $180 and i saw on the JL site that it retails for about $350. I didn't get a chance to test it out yet but i knew i was taking a chance and I'm fine with that, i noticed the wiring is a little ghetto on it i usually see the terminals on a box but this one just has the speaker wire coming str8 out of the box which is the only thing i don't like about it. Any input on this deal? And do you guys think this way of connecting it ***** or is it any different for that matter?

thats actually a pretty decent deal and i've seen speaker wire straight through the box many times. no biggy there as long as its not a gaping hole. Looks like a good deal man.

yea and the box is sealed which i like the sound of, I'm a fan of tight bass not necessarily loud/sloppy bass so i know most people would probably say a ported enclosure would be better for this sub but i like that its sealed.

Wiring straight through to the sub's terminals makes for a connection with the least resistance, but the gains are minimal. It was probably just done because it was easiest.

If it works it's a good deal, if it doesn't work it's not. Wire it up, or stick a multimeter to each coil and see if they read about 4 ohms (you'll probably see about 3.8).

So therefore, I think you got robbed blind at $180 for a used JL. Some people love them though so to them it's a decent deal. Again, personally, you could have gotten much more for $180.

I never buy anything without researching it for at least a couple days I def don't buy blind but hey if it works you have a sub just don't blow it by setting your gain too high.
