first of all, i have read that these are exactly the same as the current D6. I have heard that these are awesome, and comparable to the RL-P.

I have a problem with the spec sheets:

http://www.diamondaudio.com/PDF/current/D6/D6WooferTechSheet.pdf

The FS is very high for an SQL 12, in the low 30's.

The Qts. is very high (.51) in comparison to the box requirements (.85 cubes sealed and 1.25 cubes vented). Also, their vented is porting at around 40hz, which seems rediculous for SQ.

What am i not understanding in all of this? The box requirements and T/s seems to be going against all i have learned, yet i don't hear much bad about these.

The ported tuning is just a suggestion, designed to be loud and boomy as that is what these kids want today. As for sealed, you need to also look at the other T/S parameters such at the Vas.

I had the M6 10, I would recommend .9 sealed and 1.25-1.5 ported with a tune of 32-34 hz for an "sql" application.

what would you recommend for a 12 sealed? I am going to going to a sealed box for mine.

NOt that it in any way responds to your queries but //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif I really, really enjoy my M6mkII12D4.

It doesn't seem to be bothered in the least by feeding it somewhere beyond RMS ratings either. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

Oh didn't see that, thanks.

The spec sheet says anywhere between .75-1.75 for sealed, so what makes you say .9? What would be the advantages and disadvantages for having it larger or smaller?

It would get more "boomy" in a box much bigger than 1.2 sealed, but you would not need as much power in a bigger box. I had to give my 10" more than 800w in the .75cu.ft. sealed box I had it in, but it was very very smooth and punchy; just how I like it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

interesting how they have such a wide range of enclosures. I am trying to decide between two of these or two infinity VQ's. I have had the VQ before, and contrary to most infinity subs, it is really serious. 3" VC, and huge motor, so i know i would be happy with that.
