diamond d3's dual 4ohms 12" subs vs. kicker cvr dual 12" 4ohms subs...

i had two old hammy down compvr 12" subs from my bro. they r pretty old but they still pounded but they were cutting out and they said they were blown...idn bout that. i wanted new subs so i got a pair of diamond d3 12" subs. i was disapointed cuz i thought the diamonds would sound a lot better then the compvrs. both are the same price and the guy suggested the diamonds over the kickers. He said if i wasnt happy i could bring them in and get a pair of kickers and he would just exchange them... which are better subs?? which ones will last longer??? and what should i do?
