DFH Palo Santo Marron (beer)

Went out and individually picked 7 beers this morning to try throughout today since I do not work. I have been trying all kinds of beers this past year and Dogfish Head has always had some of the nicest beers. I picked the only one they had that I have not had which wound up being the Palo Santo Marron. It's 12% alc. by vol. and considered a brown ale. I'm not sure if its the brown ale, the 12%, or the combo, but its more or less taste like a red wine. Def. not worth the $4 I spent on this single beer. Other than that I picked up something that is 11.2% which I hope to be a little better tasting. Only thing I have had that I could compare with such high alc. content would be Sweet Water's Happy Ending which was a 9.5% ale and I absolutely loved it.

Anyone have experience with high alc. content beers (9% +)?
