Demonoid

How would demonoid have anything to do with the speed of downloads (which are pulled from seeders)?
The torrent's seeder/leech ratio is critical for the download speed. On a place like Demonoid, you have very few people bothering to upload and maintain a ratio because there's no real incentive for it. On a private tracker it's required to keep the account, so there are many more people seeding than leeching.

HAHAHA //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gifThat ish pwns...

And you don't want to download anything off of Demonoid... it's only for archive purposes at this point. The download rate on any given torrent is like 5 kb/s at most...

Private trackers are FTW. The one I have an account for, which will remain nameless because that was part of the TOS, lmao, I downloaded Tom Clancy's End war for PSP, and Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters for PSP in >15 minutes.
That's pretty interesting considering I just downloaded nearly 2.4gb's of movie's overnight from Demonoid. And that's not even with cable internet but internet sharing via my HTC Touch.

Yea, I have no idea what's he's talking about. My DSL connection runs out at 160 kbps max and I get that on well-seeded ups on Demonoid all the time.

They used to have open registrations on Fridays. I have some invites and a good ratio, but I could care less for you stupid ****ers. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Idiot.

Maybe I am just really patient? I start downloads when I go to bed and can't remember a time when they were not done by the time I woke up.

Is anyone seeing that much of a difference in speed? I get I would say 100-400k/sec but obviously if there is just a handful of seeders on shitty connections it is going to be slower.

I don't download MP3s, so the numbers aren't working in my favor on a place like Demonoid. The private trackers seem to have more lossless uploaders.

I had a 45GB torrent downloading off of Demonoid before I left on break, hopefully it's done by now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yes, but the site itself isn't directly involved in the speed. I think that is toasteds point. It is still the user base that dictates it. The site may indirectly affect it by not making an environment to sustain participation, but they don't control it. IDskot made it sound like Demonoid themselves throttle it directly. At least that is how I took the post and response.

i upload about 10 gb a nite at the site i am at my ratio is 3.12 , u get little perks and if u seed torrents that are close to dieng you get bonus points that you can trade for a higher ratio wich is supposed to do something but cant remeber what

I have invites. If your an older member and need one, just pm me. No disrespect to new members, but my invite ties to you and I just wouldn't know you enough to give you one.

Torrent sites are often built on trust, as invited members reflect on the people who invited them - some trackers will even remove the ability to invite members if you invite someone who leeches and doesn't upload in return. Knowing someone for a while is a little insurance against that happening.

Or he just doesn't feel like it.

Either-or. I tend to agree, I wouldn't just invite anyone that'll PM.

So what's a respectable ratio to have? Mine's 6, I believe, and I don't put any effort into seeding at all. I know Oink had some strict policies in place, but I've never seen them on Demonoid.
