Demonoid - gone?

comcast is crackin down hardcore on people downloading movies and sheit...i dunno if you guys have heard the details, but it was something like they allow up to 150GB/month...anything over that will be a 25-2500 dollar/month charge....they are tryin to speed up the internet browsers for the rest of the general public....which will work, but sucks for us
I would be very pissed if it was true. We pay for unlimited internet...fvck them if they tried that, but then again I wouldn't doubt it the way some company's pull ****...

just do a google search for "comcast bandwidth cap"....

http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070919-comcast-speaks-out-on-bandwidth-caps-says-they-only-affect-0-01-of-users.html

I would think that Comcast would have to limit bandwidth in some areas. Everyone in one neighborhood connects on the same cable.

One of the reasons SBC bought AT&T was to gain bandwidth that SBC was running out of so quickly.

the comcast blocking internet is total BS from what i hear.

seems like an attempt to bring down a fortune 500

prove it. none of the sites that say comcast is doing all this stuff have any evidence of their claims.

i wouldn't care so much if the money actually went to the recording artists. I have no problem buying songs.

why don't they shut down youtube? you can almost find any song their to play. And now with the rise of portables with true interent (the iphone and ipod touch being the biggest) you can go straight to youtube and play any song you want.

Bullshit!

the only reason i disagree with that concept is the AMOUNT these artists make. it's unfair dude, given they are talented but come on.. some of these people are making 1, 2, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50-100 MILLION dollars ANNUALLY.

my mother is a RN with a local hospital and i can guarantee she busts her *** TWENTY times harder than any musician and makes 1/1000000th of what they make a year.

if cd's cost $5, i would think thats fair.

$15? hell no.

And they spend a couple of weeks writing an album, spend four days recording it, and thats worth how much money?

Then they live off that for the rest of their lives?

Thats ridiculous!

exactly. and what do they spend it on? 28's, crystal and drugs (at least most rappers do)

i would think 10-25 cents a song would be fair. avg 15 track cd, $3.75.

for a popular artist, go as far as to say 500,000 cd's sold.. 1,875,000.

given a good part of that goes to marketing, upper ceo's and whatnot, artist will still easily pull in 500 grand.

for what... a couple months worth of work?

BRAIN SURGEONS saving babies and people dont even make that much

Recording contracts are very shady. When I was a youngin one of my favorite local bands signed a major label deal. Little did they know that the deal included little to no promotion by the record company. When they submitted the second album demos the label acted like they never heard of them. From what I hear the band members actually owed the record company for studio time, cost incurred, etc. Any money lost by the label was probably wrote of as a loss on their taxes. The record label NEVER loses.

This is their Myspace, created by fans. The band is long gone. The guitarist is now playing with Axel Rose:

It always made me wonder how many great bands you never get to hear. The worlds greatest guitarist probably signed a deal, cut an album and was never heard from again. Buried by bullshit.

I thought the internet would stop that kind of corporate BS. I figured someday artist would release their albums straight to the net. I have found some good bands on Myspace but this forum always sucks my time, LOL. Maybe it has and I haven't had the time to look for it on the web?

Maybe we could have a section dedicated to good local bands/artists? After all this forum does have music in common. I sure would like to know what's good in other cities.
