Delay Power to Amp by 1-2 seconds?

The application is to delay engagement of an electronic overdrive transmission when the car shifts into high gear to allow rpms to drop before torque converter lockup occurs.

The Stringer pop eliminator looks like it would work but is basically a time delay relay for $25. A less expensive option seems to be a PAC TR-4 low voltage trigger delay for about $10. The PAC is described as having a 1 second delay and I am not positive that is enough. So, still looking.

A SPST switch, you can delay it as long as you want!
