my DEH-7400MP volume knob came off last night...it is spring loaded so it comes out so you can turn it...i couldnt get it to go back in so i took the spring out and put the knob back into the hole..i can turn it but it wont come out and i dont know how to get the spring back into it...

how can i fix this?

thanks in advance

well like how do i get the spring and knob to stay together?

i just got in my car and touched the knob to turn it up and it fell off and out came the spring....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/pissed.gif.9f665f96bc89e98e708dabd4580bb591.gif its been in the "out" position for 10months and no problems..

it was never in the "in" position...does that make sense?

you know what you can do.

1st take off the face off the deck.

2. look at the back of the face

3. un-screw 4 or more screws on the back plate of the face

4. now with a small screw driver open the back plate and open it slowly

now your in. and you can put the knob back in its place.

I have no answer to this question, but I do have a question that has to do with this exact headunit.

I have had this HU for a little over a year now, and it has been doing great. One day I noticed that my front left speaker was sounding lower than that opposite one and kinda fuzzy sounding. I thought the problem was loose wiring at the back of the spearker. Checked it out and everything was fine. Checked out the connections at the amp, everything was good. Thought maybe it was loose RCA cables, but everything was good. I even tried changing out all sorts of wires thinking there might be some odd problem with that.. But the problem was still there.. I even changed out the amp and the problem was still there.. Someone at one point suggested the problem might be a bad/weak signal coming from the deck, I really didn't want to belive that.. So I let it be for a while.. One odd thing about this problem was that at high volume, the problem went away. So, since I play my music pretty loud all the time, I really didn't notice it as bad.

For the past few days, I was noticing that now both my front spearkers are having the same problem as before. Just a note, my rear speaker are not hooked to an amp and are hooked into the normal outputs on the deck. So to isolate the problem I tried fading the deck back and forth from left to right, when I did this, nothing was fading, all the way to the left and it was playing out both speakers. This made me realize that now it was more than likely that the RCA outputs on the deck are craping out.

My question for everyone is. Has anyone had this problem with this amp, if so, is there anything "I" can do without sending it away. Also, does this sound right, does everyone here think that my problem is with the deck and not something else. Should I just buy a new deck, or try to go through the poineer repair mess

Thanks for any help anyone can supply

P.S. sorry for the long post

I also have this model, Somehow the amp inside crapped out, so I have to use the RCA's and external amps. I had a problem with alt. noise, I figured I could fix the problem by adding a power filter on the power wires, someone suggested that a ground trace on the PCB went bad (a common problem with pioneers I guess).

So anyways, they suggested that I take 2 small pieces of wire, connect an end of each to ground (the case of the HU itself), then wrap the other end of the wire around the outter barrel of the RCA connections.

I tried a power filter and this trick at the same time, so I dont know if thats what fixed the problem or not.

It's worth a shot, and it wont cost you a thing.
