I voted no, I think you are pretty cool, and you have the hook up with RD which is cool too. You just need some schooling in real metal, that's all.

Hmmm... "sickest" death metal band. I actually had to look up "sick" for this one.

"Meaning especially radical or dramatic" according to Google.

Anyway, be more specific! What are you looking for?

36 crazyfists, shadows fall, killswitch engage, slayer (they are still around), decapitated (more of a death metal band than the previous), himsa, heaven shall burn. all pretty good.

yea to the origional poster. mudvayne and slipknot are not death metal. if you want some kick *** metal bands to check out look up Parkway drive, it dies today, as blood runs black, bleeding through, fear factory, lamb of god, god forbid, all that remains

Well that's great - you narrowed it down to maybe 25 to 30 albums that he can look through. =p

If you're looking for something radical in an "outside of the box" sense, pick up Skinny Puppy - Doomsday.

If you want something radical in an "I'm gonna play this to scare the neighbors" sense, buy Dimmu Borgir - Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia.

If you want something dramatic in a "**** that's a heart filled album" sense, get Tristania - Beyond the Veil.

If you want dramatic in the sense of "That's so powerful my girlfriend is crying", get Virgin Black - Requiem : Mezzo Forte.

=J

I went to school with the guitarist from Flyleaf, pretty cool guy. They're from my hometown, I know all of them except the singer...crap band though, can't stand their music. As for deathmetal that's mainstream, hmm...my suggestion is stop listening to mainstream metal, and start listening to Opeth.

i like all of those with the exception of fear factory. if you can find it, slaves for scores is a good unknown metal band.

isn't skinny puppy punk rock?

Opeth. Heh. I say a band has an Opeth complex when they try to stretch a song that should only be 4 or 5 minutes long into one that's 10 or 12 minutes long. You know, like Deliverence or The Drapery Falls. Of course, I'm being totally hypocritical recommending the band responsible for "The Everlasting" in an above post...

I don't think he was asking for suggestions, just looking for the name of that one band.

Anyway, there has only been one real Death Metal band mentioned in this thread so far, and that is Decapitated. The rest are either goth metal, nu metal, or just plain old heavy metal. Except for Dimmu Borgir. They are black metal, and bad as hell black metal at that. And by bad I mean awesome.

Some albums are. IMO Death Cult Armageddon is death metal, where the old Stormblast is black metal at it's finest.

maybe i'm too dense to understand that. how did i put a definition on death metal?
I'm pretty sure he meant it's not possible to put a definition on it. Though that isn't entirely true, as most metal-heads will tell you exactly what is or isn't death metal.
