im putting 2 (or maybe upgrade to 4) type r 12's, each set running on a aq1200d into a 2002 acura tls. How much sqft approx would i need to do the trunk? im only going to do the trunk. Also, i have big sheets of 1/2in thick insulation foamboard, im going to see if that helps deaden the floor of the trunk since the floors flat, and i have this stuff so its free

If you use a high quality vibration damper, you should be able to get very good results with 10 ft² applied to the right spots. Cheap stuff will take a lot more - 50 or 60 ft² to accomplish the same thing.

I'd only expect the foam board to add a little bit of high frequency attenuation of noise coming up through the floor - not usually a problem in a trunk. Might as well try it, but I'd test first before making any big modifications to accommodate its use.
