Dealing with the S-10 Step

How do some of you box buildedrs deal with the "step" in the extended cab portion of the cab? It looks like if I made the box that stepped it, I can gain more volume. However, if I go ported, it looks like it would cause noise unless I put a 90* piece where the step would be?

i downfired a sealed box in mine, so it was just a matter of making the back legs shorter than the front ones. i'm building a ported box this spring and i will run into the same thing. i was trying to design a way that the port itself would make the bend and take up the space.

I will gain aprox .5 cf by making the box step with the back of the truck.

Yo, I am gonna build a flase floor in mine, just to make everything nice and level. I got a ext. cab sonoma.

I kind of wish I had a bench seat. The console takes up a lot of room, limiting depth. I have a few ideas, but I am thinking I am looking at 3 10s sealed is all I can fit. If you have any mock ups or pics, I would be glad to see them.

i thought of that as well, but i really don't want to fire the sub and port any other way but forward. i may build the box a little higher and keep it slimmer and a little away from the seat even in it's most rear sitting position.

this is in my 91 sonoma

its a 2cu ft at 40hz box, im gonna build a 4 cu ft at 34hz box for a RE SE15 soon with a slot port firing up instead of to the side

integrating that step down will be hard. it is much easier to do what 406er did by just adding a piece in the end. i sold my car a few days ago and i am in the market for either a black s-10 extended cab ls or a white xtreme extended cab. the only thing is i live in minnesota and there are know xtremes up here. my plan was to get a deck, wiring, yellowtop, hercules, 10'' type R, and do alot of testing. my school can get MDF at 11 bucks a sheet.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif and once my termlab comes i will be making a box a week

False floor is the way to go...
