Deadning Done In Regular Cab Chevy *pics*

Hey guys, did a little deadning in my truck. I used Cascade Audio mat all around and a barrier decoupler on the floor. I must say I was impressed with the results as far as road noise, exhaust drone, and such goes. The noise from the motor through my cowl hood is about the loudest noise in the truck now. I probably need to do a little work under the hood to take care of this. I will be starting on the sub enclosure/amp rack this week. It will hold a Boston G5 10" (and possibly a GTR10 Passive radiator) along with a PPI Pro650. Here are a few pics.

Thanks man. It took a while to do everything. I really don't want to add any more weight to the doors. Having done the skins and inner panels accomplished what I needed to do. These doors are well known to need pins and bushings on a regular basis.

And, this is a Butyl rubber and it does have an Aluminum backing. It has a black coating on the aluminum. That's why it doesn't look all shiny like the Second Skin products that you mentioned. Matter of fact, I have some Damp Pro here and other than the black coating they seem very similar.

Wow I cant see the aluminum at all... but I'll take your word for it. lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Sounds like you need a door pin upgrade. I did that to my little s-10 blazer a couple years ago... well my buddy did it while I worked on something else. lol Just drill the holes out to accomodate a full size vehicle's hinge pins. I went with heavy-duty full size chevy truck door pins iirc. I put concrete in those doors, not even sagging.

Thanks again guys, It was a pain in the a$$ but I am very pleased with the results.

Unfortunately it is a full size truck so I doubt I would find a much better solution on the pins.

They make a 'heavy duty' upgrade pin. Bigger diameter, harder material... I think. Anyway, you're happy with the results, that's all that matters. Nice job. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Would I need to go to a dealer to get upgraded pin and bushing kits or are they aftermarket products? I would love to find a better solution.

I believe my buddy just got them from a local parts store. He owns a mechanic shop so he had them laying around, but that's what he said they were ("heavy duty upgrades for full-size chevy"). Try calling a napa or someone local, or google it. Im leaving on a business trip later today or tomorrow morning. If you still need the info when I get back I'll give my bud a call and see what he says about them.

Thanks dude, I'll make some calls and do a little searching. If I don't find anything I'll get with you later about calling your bud.

Purchase some of both and find out for yourself.
Its minimal appearance in the SSD didn't show it to stand out. Not sying its a bad product, but right now SS Damp Pro appears to be the clear top dog of deadening mats, and I see no proof that says otherwise. *shrug*

If you've owned both, you should be able to tell me what makes it better. Im not even necessarily doubting you, Id just like some info to back up your claim.

Bake, just PM me if you need me. I should be back in about a week. And sorry... I didn't mean to turn this into a vs secondskin arguement.

Thanks Audio....and, no problem. It's always good for people with hands on experience with products to speak up. Much better than the "I heard good thing about....." comments from those who have never seen the procuct they are recommending.
