ok heres the wammy, I recently had a fully loaded 15"btl in a prefab box and I loved it, but sadly I got rid of it before I had a chance to build a custom box. Now I have 2 blown 9512's that Im going to get reconed to 15's and Im wondering whats the sound diffrence between the 2, the btls response was nice and even although it was in a pretty small box, wangin on the lows and rattling your eyes on the highs. If I took the 2 subs and used the same box (around 5-6 cubes for both subs) and the same amp (around 4-7k rms daily) which is more likly to please, I want to get extremly loud and still sound good while moving alot of air, is that possible. What are each subs strong/weak points and what kind of install's do they prefer

P.S. I know that box size is on the small side for the dd's which is a large part of why im asking this.

Im trying to decide if I want to spend the money to get the 9500's reconed or sell them and get 2 btls.

I know I like the btls so Im asking based on that will I like the 9500's:confused:

if thats all the space you got, go with one sub application. one sub in an ideal enclosure with high wattage will be better in output then 2 subs in a minimal enclosure with lower wattage. i vote for a 15" btl in 4.5 cubes tuned to 38hz

Or recone the DDs to 15s and only use 1 you'll still have another if you ever damage the first or you can use them as a pair if you ever do get more room.

You could also consider a pair of 15" fi Qs in that same space sealed.

just a thought.

What series are the motors on your DDs?

9515 can cant take more wattage, so if you can give it want it wants, go with that
Ha, what!?

I agree.

I think you'd be pleased with either 15 though.

e series, if I go with one sub it will be a 18", the only thing I didnt like about the btl was the tensil slap and the way they destroy the spiders:( other than that they sounded great to me off the power (Brutus 2005bxd, stock electircal) and small box it was in

I want a low end monster that still hits the hits with murderous intent

I was aiming at getting the composite cones g soft parts and basket if I go with the dd's and throwing 4 1508's in for midbass off 100 watts (saz 100.4)each regardless of which sub i run

you would say that after i sell u my 15" btl:rolleyes:

You need more space for a pair of DD 9500's. If you put 1 9515 in 6 cubes tuned to 35hz you will be very pleased. It will cover the lows with authority and still wang on the higher stuff. Keep in mind the 9500 series are overbuilt SQ woofers. Now 2 9515's in 10 cubes @ 35hz and you will forget all about FI BTL's

They get down off a good chunk of power. I was having issues with tinsel slap as well before but with the new tinsels on them you dont have anything to worry about with a newer one.

Call DD and get them to stop building them as 15's and get them to build them as 12's. YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH ROOM FOR 2 15's. /discussion.
really I dont know how much room I have, I had a 2.5 cube box in there before but it was a tight squeeze getting it in there because the opening to my trunk its small compared to the actual space in there, with a glass box I think I could squeeze 6 or 7 in
