DD 3515 coil rub

I bought a 3515 it has the c motor. Through shipping it somehow developed a coil rub. I think the motor might have shifted. How do I check to see if the motor moved and/or troubleshoot fixing this sub.

On a side note what would a working 3515 with c motor be worth. What's the motor/basket worth separately?

easiest way to check if it shifted is if you can see that the magnet slugs are uneven. if you want it fixed you could hit up SPL and he'd be more than happy to help you out

How do I go about that. I've never dissected a sub

just remove the rubber magnet boot and see if the slugs are shifted

It is likely shifted -- from what I understand this was a somewhat common issue on the 3500. In fact I have one at my shop that shifted.

Good news is there are a few guys on the forums that can fix shifted motors. Dave @ Fix My Speaker and Corey @ SPLAudio come to mind.
