DD 2512 Vs. 1512, a few questions

I'm looking at buying a DD 2512 or 1512 really soon. I have either 460 RMS @ 4 ohms from one amp to push it with or 600 @ 2 on the other amp.

What would be louder, the 1512 @ 460 rms, 600 rms, or the 2512 on 600 rms? (assuming perfect conditions, 2.5 cu ft box @ around 35 hz)

if I get the 2512 would I clip the hell out of it with the amp being lower wattage than the sub takes?

Would the 1512 have trouble with the 150 extra watts I'd be feeding it?

I really wanna do the right thing this time and not just jump into it like I did with my JL. I want something that will get loud as hell too without clipping, that pisses me off.

The amp is what causes clipping not the sub...What amps are you planning on running?
I know, what I meant was like, will I clip the sub because of underpowering it by 150 watts.

I have an Infinity Reference 1600a and a Kenwood kac-7201 at my disposal. Not the best amps money can buy by any means, but they were basically free.

the rms on a sub is supposedly the thermal limit although many quality subs can take much more
Errr I didn't mean clip it from underpowering, I meant blow it from whatever blows a sub from underpowering (at least I heard that once, idk if its true)

But would a 1512 get louder on 600 rms than a 2512 or what? I figure with the 1512 and how DD's subs take huge amounts of power, it might get louder. Idk.

What would be more reliable? I'm almost reluctant to buy another sub after all the shit with the JL sub I had.

what jl sub
I bought a jl12w3 from a friend, and it got ****ed up on the second day I had it in my car. I think the sub got clipped to hell or something, or it shorted out because I'm a dumbass and let the ground wire touch the power wire on accident (go ahead and flame me for it). But anyway, the second day I had it it started smelling like something industrial and almost like burning rubber, but it still kicked just as hard. So, to make sure nothing was wrong, I put the infinity amp in my car and pushed it with that (400 @ 4 ohms as opposed to 460). So then I started hearing wierd noises at the very start of when the sub would kick from bass notes, so I checked it out when I got home.

I think I blew it, blew something on it, or just ****ed it up in general, because the noice coming straight from the sub sounded rumbly and kind of what an xbox controller sounds like when it vibrates, but the noise from the port was clean. I don't even know. But now when I tap the cone, it makes a vibrating noise.

And about upgrading the amp - if the infinity pushes it well, and if it's loud, probly not. I might though, since I'd be underpowering the sub by 150w. It won't be for a little while if I do, I don't have $300 laying around to drop on an 800rms or so amp.

what is ur price diff between the dd's
I don't really know haha. Paperboy has a 2512a that he's willing to sell me for $60 since it needs a recone (I think he said it has a blown coil too, will a recone fix that? or does it just do as its name says and replaces the cone?) and since that'll apparently be around $60 from DD unless he's trying to scam me, that's $150 or so because of shipping.

And from what I hear the 1512 goes for around $160. I just want reliable and loud basically, if that's possible.

that sounds about right on the recone.....on sub amps it is really hard to hear distortion or clipping and that is what usually kills subs.....don't jack the bass boost wide open or the gains...you may want to take it to a reliable shop after you hook everything up and let them set your gains and amp for you....or do some research on here on setting amps properly and do it yourself...

it needs a recone becasue i put 2 RD 1750s to her, lol... one coil opened ther other is fine it plays after some sick abuse.. recone is like 65 bucks with shiping if i remember correctly..

That's what he says about why it needs a recone. Don't mean to discredit you or anything if you're reading this Paperboy, you've been more than helpful, I just need a second opinion.

Kinda confused about "one coil opened up"
