You misunderstand me, cone area is not king. Im simply saying the two 12" L7's will have so much more cone area than a single 15" round sub, that other factors wont be able to make up the difference. Its like comparing two 15" round subs to one. Is it possible for a single 15 to be louder than your two squares? Absolutely, but (iirc) you've already stated you wont up your power, and if you are looking at Flatlynes I doubt you want to tune your box high to optimize output (at the expense of musicality). That doesn't give the XL, or your 'install', much breathing room to make up the difference in cone area.So I guess I need to be looking into 2 twelves that will handle about 1.75-2 cubes a piece ported since harsh reality has proven that cone area is really king. I was looking at the IA Flatlyne but they don't have rec. enclosure specs. Really looking to get low low with whatever setup I get and stay in the $600 range.
