dc lvl 3 vs. re se? last thread i promise

That's why I recommended the older SEs with the 12 spoke baskets about 2 dozen times. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif RE isn't hand made in the USA anymore, but most subwoofers aren't. I don't see RE as any worse than some of the other well known subs that're built overseas.

I really don't know if the new ones are bad. I hear they are, but people hate change. Everytime a sub, amp or component set is changed, some people will complain. Most of these people pass judgement even though they haven't owned the new model....or the older one for that matter.

I hear the new SE has the exact same soft parts with a beefier motor, a non-generic basket and a new magnet cover. And for the record, I'm not saying the 12 spoke is bad, just that it's used by dozens of companies. RE Audio obviously wanted an updated look for their subs, as they've changed the basket and magnet boot on nearly all of their models at this point...

They're nice. Should sound good. Be sure to build a solid enclosure and power them cleanly.

If you need any help with designing a box, pm me. I'm no world renowned designer, but I'm sure I can come up with something solid for you...

my se's were ok weren't the loudest best score was 144 off a zx1500.1. but when i took them out i noticed the glue on the spider to the cone was coming apart didn't affect the sound just a build quality of them. if i were you id try the DC's like everyone says rusty is the man he returns emails immediately it seems like even late at night. i think for my next build i might try some.

Ya the main thing i heard about the new res was about the cone and the spider. im gonna go with the dcs for sure, i just need to get rid of my system. i have a few kids lined up, but who knows if theyll come thru.

anyway, ya rusty was mad cool to me, got back to me within a few hours with all the info i wanted to know right off the bat. wasnt any beating around the bush or game playing at all, and that, in all honesty is what makes u wanna purchase their products. The customer service is what gets ya, besides the actual product of course.

i still have my re se's that was built here in the us of a...lol....i have the 05versions...and i feel safe slapping over 1k on each of them daily....i cant say that for the new se's thats out now..the soft parts look cheap as fu.ck, for the averge joe the plummer..lol its a different company to go with...but little do they know the older version imho is a better built sub and stronger...and i think if u put both se's new and old against each other the old will prevail

This thread almost made me pick up some DCs. Unfortunately I can't afford a Lv4 just yet and the Lv3's can only half the power I'm working with. **** amp's limiting my choices more than helping.

I emailed DC Sunday afternoon for prices, expecting an answer by the end of Monday. I got my answer in about 3 hours ON SUNDAY!!! That is why i chose DC...
