i went to my first event today, and it was pretty sweet. i think i did pretty good for what i've got. i mic'ed at 129.5 dB with 2 10" round old school solo-barics and an audiobahn a2300hct. i was playing lil jon's throw it up, and for the next round i played this guy i worked with's bass track for a 125. the guy put me in street class A (whatever that means) just wanted to ask people on the board how they get higher readings and how well i did for my first mic, what they mic at, etc...

are you in fresno? because i was at that meet. i work for good guys off topic i know but just wondering

um......... the only reason i didn't use test tracks is because the song i used sounded the loudest to me. the ref guy gave me a test track CD to keep but i didn't have enough time to go through them and see which was loudest, if i could tell at all.

the boxes are sealed, i bought them that way because sealed is better for SQ, right? i'm more into quality than loudness.

i have 2 12" kenwood woofers that can handle 350 rms, think they would be louder than my 10" solos that can handle 450 rms?

no, i'm in michigan, the drag was held in utica near detroit and sterling heights

oh ok, and the solo barics should be louder than the kenwoods.

Ported can be just as good sounding as sealed, you have to have a good box though.

What you could do is have the box built for SPL(higher tuned) and just get a port plug to use for daily driving, to get that SQ you want, it's a good idea.

The two 12's should probably be louder than the 10's, it all depends on the quality of the woofer. Get a ported box with either the 10's or the 12's and give it a try, just make sure somenoe who knows what they're doing builds the box.

Yes. The manual specifically specifies only to run them sealed or 4th order? bandpass and that any other application will "void the warranty".

Ygpm, thread starter.

ypgm? please spell out.... i know that louder to the ear doesn't really mean louder to the mic too...

i wonder if i can get a store or something to mic me after i change stuff to see what i get out of it. thanks for all of the help and input

Those round solo's you have are excellent for sound quality, but horrible for big SPL numbers. With those you shouldn't run them ported, stick with sealed.

If you want to hit higher numbers, you're going to want to change subs.

And YGPM stands for "you've got a PM [private message]"
