Could a Vette drive 1000 miles @ 120 MPH ?Wonder how far that electric car could go at say 120 mph like a vette? Could it drive for 100 miles, 1000 miles?
Working where I do, things going under mach 6 don't impress me.
But it seems rather unfair to compare a custom car designed for the 1/4 to a production car.Could a Vette drive 1000 miles @ 120 MPH ?
I doubt it could go 100 miles, otherwise he wouldn't need to recharge between races ... But it's also designed for the 1/4 mile, so I'm sure the batteries are wired for maximum voltages (series), which gives you more power, rather than current (parallel), which would give you better range ...
it is a street legal car though... dont know how dedicated it is to the 1/4 mile, but it does show him driving it on the street. But it seems rather unfair to compare a custom car designed for the 1/4 to a production car.
I still don't see in as an apples to apples comparison though...maybe not apples and oranges, persay.it is a street legal car though... dont know how dedicated it is to the 1/4 mile, but it does show him driving it on the street.
that being said, he did trailer it to the drag strip...
but also, i would imagine that under normal operating conditions (AKA - not foot to the floor), it would get somewhat respectable distance on a charge. and even if not, only takes 20 minutes or less to re-charge after a run down the strip. not too bad, considering that re-charge time will be considerably less with the added L-ion batt pack they installed at the end. it definitly recharges faster and is more fun than most electric RC cars //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
yeah, i was just trying to make a counter point, i dont think its apples to apples either. but if you stop and think about what it has accomplished, it could be tapered into a street only car, or a performance oriented street car with some pretty good results, at least i think.I still don't see in as an apples to apples comparison though...maybe not apples and oranges, persay.
20 minutes ain't bad at all.
Makes me wonder why automakers have such a hard time doing it.
Good to know. without the infrastructure to support it, no real change will be made.I do know that around here, some of the new mid to high rise apartments and condo's are planning on technology like this and planning special parking needs around it for the future.
