how long should i let the amp warm up b4 turning the volume past 5???? if i do it just turns off on me and i have to turn my HU on and off b4 it'll turn on again, and when i hit a bump it usualy cuts out. wtf is going on?? should i mount the amp somewhere or what???

it might be mine works find cept it sat for day n a half and then i started my car and didn't notice it wasnt playing till it clicked on and was kinda loud lol but it took a good minute or 2

typically it will take a little while for an amp to warm up to play at its full potential in the cold, make sure your gains aren't too high and maybe think about upgrading your power (alt & batt) and check your wiring as well, cause I am not sure about your stuff cutting off like that, that could relate to other problems

it turns on fine but when it cuts out i have to turn the HU on n off b4 it'll turn on again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

and im about to go out and re-wire it all....im just trying to get the courage to brave the cold

Solid state amps built nowadays do not require a warm-up period before they'll operate correctly like their tube-type brethren of yesteryear (Sorry, Jack...)

Umm...should we take this to mean that the amp isn't mounted anywhere currently? That's it is just sitting on a seat or under a seat or loose in the trunk and not secured to anything to keep it in place? If it isn't currently mounted somehow then Yes! By all means you should mount it ~ and post haste.

This would be from whatever issue is causing your cutting off problem is making the amplifier go into protection mode. You have to turn the HU on and off (as the turn-on circuit of the amp is controlled by the remote activation output of the HU) to reset it.
If what I think I'm reading is actually what I am reading then you need to get that amp secured to wherever in your vehicle it is going to live on a permanent basis and then make certain all of the wiring associated with it (power, ground, remote, speaker output, & RCAs) are routed properly and connected securely. If proper amplifier installation doesn't cure the problem let us know and we'll go from there. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Good luck!

-A damaged voice coil on one(or both) of you'r subs will cause the amp to go into protection.

-An abnormally large buildup of frost on the subwoofers voice coils could short out the + and - of the subs and throw the amp into protection.

-An internal flaw in the amp could set off the protection curcuit as soon as you try to turn it up.

-A cold and weak electrical system providing too little voltage will put your amp into protection.

-A loose wire shorting out from a poor installation could trip the protection curciut

The cold alone should not negatively effect the amp. Think of it as a computer motherboard, the colder you get it the higher the internal voltage and current capacity will go up. Heat and anything that could short it out is bad for amps.
