d4 to d2

My buddy is scared to ask a question he thinks its dumb, anyway he has a single 15' d4 that hits nice and low at 2ohms, he then got another 15' d2 same sub put it in the same box and now its at 1ohm but its sound more punchier and not low at all, does he needto change his amp settings or his EQ settings as he never changed anything but the sub....

one sub is seeing more power then the other, you never run non matching subs even if they "look" the same there not. tell him to pick which one goes best with the amp and put the other up and build a box for a single.

No, its one sub and one single box, he took the one d4 out and put the d2 in...
oh thank god, well the d2 at 1ohm should be louder but is going to require him to reset the amp for the new ohm load for example for 1000@ 2ohms the ac output would be 44.72vac but at 1ohm it needs to be turned down to 31.62vac

right now it seems louder and punchier because he's clipping the crap out of it low tones are recorded at lower db levels and right now he can't turn it up enough without clipping it to get those tones to really shine also turning down the lpf helps to around 60hz is a nice starting point and depending on tuning sub-sonic on and if possible set around 20hz then tune the lpf by ear to your taste.

disregaurd my last post
you got it now, just whatever you do find a test tone to tune with-5db is a good one for daily music and use that to tune your gain, heck I use a range of them to set my filters as well I just play through them to I find my happy slope range where to whole thing blends without holes or gaps in the sound.
