D3400 Initial Charge

I don't have a battery charger, and I'm not sure of anyone who has one that I can borrow, but is there a place where I can go to get my D3400 AGM type battery charged before I use it?

Are there any alternatives to a plug in charger?

Anyone in Columbus or near Columbus with one I can borrow for a day?

Maybe try an auto parts store, like AZ, most will do it for free in like an hour or some shh.

They come fully charged.............at least the last 7 i bought did.

if you have a decent size alt just throw it in the car and let the alt do its work.

All I know is, I opened the box and the paper from Powermaster says charge it.

Actually, this is what it says:

What they really mean to say is make sure it is above 12.6V before putting a big load on it. I have had arguments with Scotty about using your alt to charge the battery out of the box. Scotty and Meade both said to charge it with a charger before using it in the car because it will likely burn out your alt if you install it without a full charge.

That is not the way I see it, and why I argued the point, but that is the official word from XS.

If it's above 12.6v install and enjoy. If it's below you should get the proper charge on it first. Simple enough.

Here is my side of the argument. If the 20A or so draw that a drained battery will present to your alt is going to kill the alt, then what is going to happen when I turn on my 100A worth of audio?

true that... i have never understood the theory that an alt will fry if you though in a bat that is not fully charged. I would love to know what there reasoning is.
