And yet.... over the past few years there have been numerous cases just like this where the grand jury refused to bring charges against the cop.

If one puts a cop in a position where his life is endangered, they can in fact shoot you as they too have the right to self defense even when they are on active duty. Citizens also have the same right to defend themselves or others who's life is being endangered by a nutjob to use deadly force.

Now that's not always the case in blue states where they seek to protect criminals first before the people, but in red states you can blow 'em away in a situation where they are putting life and limb at risk

Law enforcement has been using the old knee on the back of the neck method to subdue a criminal for decades, then one day....

You are dealing with a deluded individual. I was listening to a lawyer's podcast and he said even when you have a rock solid case/defense, there is still a 10% chance you'll lose.

Yep, some of them do get rough but they are allowed quite a bit of latitude since they are fighting with people to take them in to custody which can be very dangerous for the cops and some of them lose their lives trying to arrest violent people.

If cops are not protected then we will have even more lawlessness. If for one have no empathy for those doing crime which damages society. If there are no serious consequences to doing crime then we get mo crime as we have been seeing in these blue states.

That's not the discussion. The discussion is what it is legal for a cop to do in the situation.

Laws may not always make sense, but that doesn't give people the freedom to break them, nor does it give you a win in court.
The old "this law is stupid" defense doesn't work well at all.

I don't have a lot of empathy for criminals either, especially when they decide to escalate and fight with cops. If the cops are doing something wrong, violating your civil rights, then I fully support taking them to court. Unfortunately, Denver Colorado and these stupid policies are biting us in the arse.
