Law enforcement has been using the old knee on the back of the neck method to subdue a criminal for decades, then one day....And yet.... over the past few years there have been numerous cases just like this where the grand jury refused to bring charges against the cop.
If one puts a cop in a position where his life is endangered, they can in fact shoot you as they too have the right to self defense even when they are on active duty. Citizens also have the same right to defend themselves or others who's life is being endangered by a nutjob to use deadly force.
Now that's not always the case in blue states where they seek to protect criminals first before the people, but in red states you can blow 'em away in a situation where they are putting life and limb at risk
