It looks like overseas oil is cheaper. Maybe we should quit buying overseas oil and pay more.
It's because most of the crude we produce needs more refining and we don't have the refineries to make it happenIt looks like overseas oil is cheaper. Maybe we should quit buying overseas oil and pay more.

The "newest" refinery in the U.S. was built in '77
A little research goes a long way buddy![]()

We absolutely should use our own oil...we can't because there's no way we can get new refineries built because of stupid legislation...All the Republicans crying that we should use our own oil aren't very smart.
Keystone is for moving Canadian oil...it has nothing to do with domestic production here...Dirty oil is one of the reasons the Keystone pipeline got shut down.
My reading shows that Canadian oil, whom we get most of our crude from, varies greatly in quality. We absolutely use our own oil...we can't because there's no way we can get new refineries built because of stupid legislation...

The process for refining different types of crude is different. Because we haven't built a refinery since '77 the vast majority of our capabilities are geared towards the imported heavier crude that was the primary source back then. So, who is saying that the oil pulled from the United States is heavy or dirty oil and that we don't have the means to refine it?

Oil is a global market. We both import and export petroleum depending on what is needed, where it is needed, refining capacity of the markets involved, etc. What I'm more concerned about is that many/most nations with massive oil reserves use that create National Sovereign Wealth Funds. Instead we choose to allow Big Oil to make massive profits; in that sense our oil reserves are treated more like Russia, than many Middle Eastern Countries. It's astonishing how the richest most powerful economy to ever exist refuses to "share the wealth."I did research kid. That's why I posted it. We import oil because it's cheaper. All the Republicans crying that we should use our own oil aren't very smart. Dirty oil is one of the reasons the Keystone pipeline got shut down. That oil was scheduled to go overseas. I post facts kid. You can go sideways towards somebody else.
Clean or dirty isn't the reasonI'll say it again. Our oil is too dirty. That means we have to buy foreign oil. Anybody that says that we should use our oil is ill informed.
