I think Trump is going to have to get much more nuanced than his current approach. Might even make sense to cut China out of the "negotiations." Ie, you can't tariff iphones 100% (unless the wholesale cost is ridiculously low) without disrupting the market significantly. OTOH, you could tariff iphones 20% this year, 40% next year, etc, until Apple gets their US plant up and running. I do suspect that the rumors of "$3000 US made iPhones" are extremely exaggerated.

I think Trump is going to have to get much more nuanced than his current approach. Might even make sense to cut China out of the "negotiations." Apple has said there's no way they could/would do iPhones here, and our current admin is now pushing for more manual labor production and a shift away from automation.

We are becoming anti-technology after the world passed us by.
