#2, Bingo... you mentioned the pandemic. Who was pushing for all the shutdowns, country wide panic, and other unnecessary actions that caused the higher prices? Biden could have stopped it if he would have just came out and told the truth about COVID. Instead, he went along with the spreading all the lies and causing mass hysteria.

So let's assume Sleepy Joe doesn't push for lock downs and the country doesn't lock down. How does that equate to lower fuel prices and lower inflation?

Damn that does look like an Abrams. I think we're sending them older versions without the advanced armor that may have repelled this attack. US tanks aren't magical invincible machines. US tanks/armor has high survivability because of the level of training US troops get.

Considering the proliferation of ******* drones in this conflict I feel very annoyed that the Ukrainians didn't take better measures to protect my tax dollars. They could have at least welded up a basic cage, it is amazing how much they adds in terms of survivability against those kinds of attacks

I'd bet there is a counter measure and this is loss due to inadequate training.

I don't doubt the loss was due to inadequate training. Last time I checked, they are given a little over a month to learn the ins and outs of a tank before they are sent off. But if you already know you lack training, why not spend a few hours welding a fence onto your tank and have it be a passive countermeasure against these kinds of attacks? Crap like that bothers me same as when they said no to Australian when they offered 41 F/A-18 Hornet fighters

It's 6 months training on the Abrams (for US troops). US troops get that initial training then continue training when they reach their units. The US consistently fields superior troops because of non stop training.

I am referring to training time for the Ukrainian to be exact last time I checked training was 6 weeks so a little over a month for the leopard

I do agree, there's classified tech on those, so I would expect it's the same as some other high tech exports, where the exports are downgraded versions. We also have that new like X version of the M1 or whatever, newer edition one. The armor on these tanks is layers of insanity. 70 tons of insanity lol, powered by a turbine.

I think tanks are largely gonna be useless unless darpa gets their plasma shield going or tanks have anti-aerial lasers. Even with that, how are you gonna defeat like 100x $200 drones packed full of explosives?

I don't see the sense in providing bare minimum training only to get $20m tanks blown up. TBH, doesn't even make sense to equip the Ukraine with Abrams. The Abrams is designed for fast lighting strikes, but I highly doubt the Ukrainian army could support the Abrams to keep them rolling. IMHO, in a defensive posture the Abrams isn't that superior to less advanced/cheaper tanks. IMHO, the Bradley makes more sense fir Ukraine. Sending them f-16s is also a waste IMHO.

As said a cage is really the best countermeasure in terms of cost. You can't hit what you can't penetrate and they are open enough to allow most explosions to spread out so they can take multiple hits. I think one of the newest active countermeasures that can be used against drones is the Israeli iron fist but that is expensive so any active countermeasures for mass attack would probably have to be laser-based.

Thats my whole point my tax dollars are being burned on machinery that is barely being used at 50 percent of their capability. Honestly, the best things to send if we are arm-twisted into sending them aid are MANPATS/MANPADS, telecommunication equipment, and Chinese hobby-grade drones. Those 41 Australian F/A-18 Hornet fighters they refused could have easily been used as a training aid or turned into large-scale drones.
