Yes it is dangerous. The suspension can freeze solid and putting power to it, with it frozen could cause the coils to overheat and fry. That's why I always took my system out in winter.

Yeah, the cold temperatures definitely aren't good for your sub.

Personally I'd put in some of those warming packs that deer hunters use for their hands. Stick them into the pole vent. Your sub will in fact bust if you don't keep that coil warm.

Another trick I used was heat tape. Then wrap some neons around it so not only were you saving your sub, but it looked pretty cool as well.

You could also try one of those small space heaters, you know, the ones that use kerosene. Be sure not to roll the windows down though or all the heat will escape.

turn up the volume and burp it, coil will instantly heat up.

I thought I had something wrong in that equation. It may take 2 hours to travel to 1 mile this was, but at least it's roomier and donuts cost less than gasoline.
