contact the bank and see if they would be willing to let your sister take over the defalted loan. I had the owners of an old house i lived in get forclosed on. thier payment was 340/mo i was paying 650, not sure how they couldnt pay their bill

More than likely it wasn't the only property your landlord was renting and or had mortgages on. Including the one he was living in. You rent doesn't equate directly into his payment on the home. He does have his own living expenses.

I did suggest what you said though. It doesn't hurt to see. Especially since houses aren't moving. Problem is she still has to be approved for the loan and while they would love to have someone giving them money, she would still have to satisfy the underwriters like any home buyer would. He mentioned her boyfriend not having a job ATM, so it doesn't look promising in that department. Still worth a shot.

actually it was their only property they were renting out. they were an older couple and thier house was paid for. from my perspective as a business owner, if i were renting property, my first priority would to make sure my assets were paid before splurging elsewhere.
