Yeah, they are. Last week my oldest had to write a bio on an African American. She chose Oprah. Here are the last two lines:

So Oprah has had a good life, although at times it was very bumpy and horribly sad. With some of the choices that she made I personally am surprised she got anywhere, but she made it.
