No you didn't. You told me it was because I suposedly pirated Windows.
I did not. I siad I hope it is.

Then I CLEARLY told you, you have to load the sata drivers prior to install because that disc more than likely doesnt have them. Then I gave you a link that tells you how to slipstream drivers onto an XP setup disc. If that is too hard for you then you need to buy a usb floppy and put the drivers for the sata onto a floppy to load during setup.

DON'T MAKE ME SAY IT AGAIN!

The link says SP1 and SP3, so which one do I go with? Plus I don't even have Nero on this computer. Do I have to pirate Nero in order to do this?

is it xp SP2?
If not you need to load the sata drivers prior to install. this is why the setup CD is saying there is no HDD.

You dont need a new hdd.
XP didnt have native sata drivers until SP2
Since your laptop has no Floppy, you either need a USB floppy drive or slipstream the SATA drivers onto an XP install CD.

It's XP Pro Service Pack 2.
HMM, then it still sounds like the drivers for your sata controller aren't natively on the setup CD.
Until you try that, I will stop helping. Playing with PM and re-partitioning isn't going to help the setup cd see your hard drive if the CD doesn't have the correct drivers on it to run the damn controller.

the procedures are the same. You can slipstream any SP you want to. if you must pirate nero then do so. It can be done using any burning program you like though.

Actually since the disc you will be using HAS SP2 don't worry about slipstreaming any SP onto it. Just slipstream the drivers on.
