Me and Flip seem to be a lot a like actually..

I have noticed the same trend..With my ex's a lot of times..I tend to better them while we date, believe it or not..Beyond belief, I am a rather smart guy..I convinced pancakes to care more about school and the semester and a half we dated her GPA went up over a point. I convinced another ex to quit smoking, once we broke up she started back...

I kind of f'd over one of my ex's..Sort of used her..And then she started doing drugs...

Perhaps because we do not down them, they begin to see their self-worth. I don't want to be with someone who doesn't challenge me when I make a mistake. I think that empowers them and they begin to find value within themselves.
Some guys would be willing to fight a girl if she called him out. I think it keeps me in line.

I like my gf because she isn't afraid to put me in my place when need be... Defiantly keeps me inline...
