Iam,

PE is having a sale on Tang Band drivers...perhaps you should design me a Line Array.

I'd only have ~125w to work with...nothing more than 5' tall though...
Most Tnag Band extended range drivers are good choices, but even at $5 ea it will be mucho dinero. A line of TBs would make my budget line look like Xplod. I was half joking about you having lines. I built them for novelty and block rockers. I plan to make an HT surround set of speakers soon to replace the lines. The lines will go in the bar. You can do much better(SQ) for less $ with some nice MMTMM designs or just MTM and couple them with a nice Sub.

I am debating about the 2.1 vs 5.1 for the living room. I already have the cheap 5.1s for the bedroom. There is great entertainment in watching DVDs in 5.1 (One time my gf turned her head when hearing a sound from behind...it was great)
I am still liking the Orb stuff for cosmetic reasons. I really like the spherical shaped enclosures...even though it won't help sonic quality that much.
Well aesthetics do come into play when deciding. That was another reason I went with an IB sub. I first contemplated a very large and very low tuned enclosure, but the wife didn't want a large(in her eyes useless) piece of furniture commanding so much space. The IB is HUGE, low and out of the way. Pleased me and her.

I prefer 5.1 myself because I watch movies just as much as I listen to music at home. IMO a 5.1 is a better compromise for both and tiny prefab 5.1s aren't nearly the same as a good one. A good 5.1 set will still sound good when you run it in stereo mode for music. That's what I do at home. When playing music I run the lines and sub only. No surrounds or center.

I really want to do a nice HT setup in my new apartment when I get it in August, just not sure where to start.

Sorry. It's early in the AM and I thought you were using it as a pedestal to your anti-establishment ways //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
nah, not this time.

I found out yesterday at court that st pete cops get tickets from other st pete cops and clearwater cops. Not there really is no reason for me to ever be a cop.

Makes sense.
I am thinking of either IBing the sub in the ceiling as you mentioned or going with a sub that comes in a spherical enclosure.

Problem with the Orbs is that I need something that extends from 15-120. The Orbs really want a sub with that level of extension...However, I do not want to trade off the occasional explosion either...

IB in the ceiling would work just as well as in a car, No? Just mount it betweeb the rafters and the attic would be the enclosure...

I found this "in the box" solution that continued the spherical theme...

Although teh gf gets to decorate...I think the theme of the living room is modern-ish...straight lines and circles...geometric shapes. I do not know a "womanly" way to descrive that though.
IB works better in home than in car. Much easier to accomplish a true IB. IB has for the most part the best extension. I would start with 2X Mach5 IXL 18s but build the baffle with expansion for 2 more down the road if you need more.

Great source to read up on.

Needs to play flat to 120. Finding something that's flat from 15-120 is a chore.
Why 120? Thats entirely to high for a sub IMO. You are asking for the holy grail. Ask around on the IB boards, maybe they know of a driver that can get close to that in an IB. Usually if the alignment extends down to 15 or better then it suffers up toward 100 and over.
