What about when the dollar was much stronger?

When the dollar was stronger there were very few jobs that paid minimum wage. Almost all except the most entry level of jobs were at a higher rate.

I didnt mean to imply they were directly related. I meant with inflation going up it is necessary to make more money.

Are you saying if there was a guarentee of no inflation you would not want a raise?

I thought that was the point you were trying to make. I must have misunderstood.

I'd like to see the data on this, as I doubt it...

As far as I know the dls doesnt keep stats on minimum wage jobs but I can tell you from experience as I have worked many, many different industries and jobs and have never made minimum wage. Even when I was 16 at my first job in fast food I made more. And location will be a factor as its relative but my experience is in Nebraska where the cost of living is relatively low.

I think the link between inflation and the miniumum wage is a political one, not an economical one.

But I do not believe inflation is caused by you and I getting raises.

You argument is actually easy to prove/disprove. But when you say "stronger" stronger compared to what? euro? yen? yuan? C$?
We can take the last 14 years (iirc, 94 was the last min wage increase)...

Take census data that says the number of people making $11,000 or less.

Run a regression to determin the correlation between the two. Pick a currency and I can do it in 10 minutes.

Also does this information differentiate between part timer and those that didnt work the whole year?
