its a 500 watt amp, from what I searched. But still what the hell was that post saying?
It didn't make a whole lot of sense, did it?
O h I see now

hmm... need i fear a ban hammer? are we cleaning up the forum in these "Post 12 year old days" ?
It has nothing to do with cleaning up the forum.
It's cleaning up posts in this specific thread by people who registered in '07 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

nothing. im ripped..
i dunno what the orig question was... how i was getting the wattage specs i was figuring? well its a 1700 peak, 800 rms.. at 2 ohms. lets call it 1000 for now and all have a beer.
I see that you had edited in "per Prowler's disapproval" in the sig for that other username.
It isn't so much Prowler's disapproval, fella - the point (allegedly) to this website in the first place is supposedly getting more educated on all aspects of car audio purchase/installation/use/implementation/etc.
So - with that in mind, let's educate you! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif
RMS ratings for that amp are 500w @ 4 Ohms and 850w @ 2 Ohms (CEA 2006 ratings standards compliant)
Peak or Max wattage is a completely meaningless figure when considering real-world usage so let's take those statistics (1700w my arse) and chuck them out the window never to be considered or quoted again.
They are good for nothing more than marketing purposes and should be treated with the appropriate disdain as a result.
ANY amp - regardless of quality - isn't going to output the top end of its wattage capabilities when listening to music. So - even with the volume cranked wide open (but still just shy of clipping) you'll never see 850w from that amp while listening to music. With a 50Hz test tone, perhaps, but not plain music.
With that in mind - and having absolutely no clue where you're getting this 1,000w output figure from now - be aware that even though the amp is plenty capable of making 850w during normal use it
never will.
So! That's why I scoffed at the presence of the 1,700w stat in your previous posting signature. Again ~ it's not as much disapproval as it is the knowledge that such a claim was simply wrong.
if it aint one thing its another....
music keg burnt out. For no apparent reason.... nothing has change with it, just sitting in the same spot, wasnt moving(driving). just burnt out and smoked a little.
Music Keg?
I didn't know you ran Kenwood gear, Hero.
I learned something today, methinks...
You're right.
You can't.
