ahhh. im kind of doubtful as well, but i also havent been up to date on any of this.

the FED is starting to worry me a bit... at first i was excited about interest rates, now its rapidly approaching the record low...

i guess its good that im in the market for that new house still.

yeah, i would agree thats the biggest factor driving people away from the housing market. that and the large supply of homes on the market leaving a surplus, leaving them to believe that if they owned one of those homes then the value of their investment would go down since there is more supply than there is demand...

people need to realize though that this market is not measured in weeks or months, it should be looked at more long term than that. the housing market has a roughly 7-10 year cycle of a boom and a recession. happens just about like clockwork, yet people still fail to see the longterm... it will all come around again though, and some of the wiser investors will use the lowered rates to make alot of money during a recession. the scared ones are the ones who will most likely hurt themselves the most.

I don't worry about other peoples missteps, just my own.

its a good theory, but you gotta remember where i am coming from.

i work for the general contractor.

i am actually in an office, working as a project coordinator/estimator.

if no one wants a house built at the moment, you either build a spec, or find ways to get your specs sold... either way, you never want to be sitting there with nothing going on.

luckily though, the area i am in, and the compnay i am with have not been slowed down at all. last year was actually our strongest year ever for the company. this year we are expecting to be a bit slower, but still not an awful year.

and yes, typically the contractors yell at the hammer swingers.

but it is their job to be aware of what is going on, what needs to be going on, and the proper way to do it.

they are basically managing the workers, making sure they do things correctly, on time, and within budget.

yeah, pretty much the same, except not all the fancy stuff...

its when you build a home that is not sold. the builder chooses the finishes and selections themselves, usually based on market speculation (hence spec) of what would be popular or sell the best for the area.

I think he got it, broke the faceplate and decided to con me out of a refund. The faceplate doesn't open. You have to push the button and pull it open with your hands. Sometimes the faceplate just falls off the deck.
