I was considering Minnesota. I don't like the south or west, and the north east the cost of living is too high.

I know Mississippi had the highest unemployment at one time and Michigan was second, but I think the overall economy is worse in Michigan

Been to South Dakota and didn't need to go any further. It is a must I'm in a large city. I grew up in a city bigger then the state of Montana.

Try northern Michigan. Town I live in has 1200 people, closest town with 10k is Traverse City which is 70 miles away.

around 150k, not too big, not too small and housing is cheap
