Crunk Flammable Jello Times

nG --
I am thinking I want to do that bassrace thing next season. I am guessing 139.9 is achievable by a newb. What considerations should I be thinking...I suppose one would start with the alternator, electrical, deadening...

Would you say 139.9 is very competitive due to the fact it is readily accomplished?

Is this something even worth my while? Trying to find a hobby I can piddle around with and have some fun. I expect this venture to cost ~$3k if I select my products wisely.
I mean, worthwhile depends on how you value it. You'll be paying for equipment, paying entrance fees, traveling to shows...

Most shows offer nothing else except a plastic trophy at best for placing first, and of course maybe some satisfaction. Is it fun? Yes. Up to you if it's actually worth it or not.

The 139.9 class is a very competitive class, and lots of fun considering most actual audio enthusiasts can easily compete in that class. As far as Bassrace, I wouldn't even necessarily worry too much about alternator/deadener unless it's a big problem in your vehicle. You'd more than likely be fine with just the Big3 and a deep cycle under the hood... depending on power. Deadener would help if the rattles annoy you.
