Crunk Flammable Jello Times

I've been spending too much time lately playing with this...

Mostly just tweaking, changing out FETS, and adjusting various things... I found the basic design but have been beefing it up. Doubt I'll ever built it but still I've learned from it.

build or it didn't happen.
I might...

I like the fact that it only pulls 1.3 Amps through the MOS-FETS at 200 W 8Ohm

It would be limited by the power supply, but I would say that with 80 Volts +- on the rails it could easily do 400 Watts @ 8 Ohms with less than 2 amps per FET. Last night playing with it it was doing 1200 Watts @ 2 ohms easy.

I am going to tweak the front end of the amplifier tonight. Try to make it more OPAMP friendly and take out some of the bipolar transistors for simplicity. I think it would be fine with a good robust OPAMP since the input to the MOS-FETS is less than 20 uA at full power.

Joe,
Any idea on MSRP of the B&W P-1...or whatever the more cylinder/spherical shaped sub is.

It's not on the site. If you have no idea, that's cool. I can call when I get home.
$1,600 MSRP

They aren't that great if you want lots of output. But, there are some guys who use them in stereo instead of buying 1 bigger subwoofer and they seem to be happy with them.

that's a lot of resistors & diodes!
You forgot the most important part...

The MOS-FETs... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

At least you don't have a test in an hour... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Yeah, I think DIY subwoofers are much more cost effective. Mains however, QUITE debatable...

Ehhh,

Reasoning was I am strongly considering the Orb Audio set...primarily for the aethetic reasons. I was looking for a nice sub that plays ~20 - 120 already in a spherical enclosure.

I may DIY here...but not really sure how to build a spherical enclosure. Other options are IB in the ceiling or building a table with a downfiring sub.

Does it have to be spherical, or would cylindrical work as well?
