Sounds like you had a spike on your phase...So... all the electricity in my place shut off... the entire floor.
I looked outside, streetlights were still on... and the neighbors were still on. To me, it even looked like the upstairs apartment still had light on.
So, I go downstairs, and the MAIN input breaker on the breaker box is tripped.
I try to reset it, and it won't. I let it sit for a minute... still won't. I flip all the individual breakers off, flip the main breaker and it's fine.
I then power each slot on one at a time, and nothing trips at all.
WTF?
I come back up stairs... and now it seems like the video switcher on my BRAND NEW RECIEVER is fried.
Audio works, but NO video output what so ever no matter which input I select. Ever tried a reset on the receiver. The OSD won't even show up.

That was my next purchase. Mother fucker.Sounds like you had a spike on your phase...
Bummer... Should of had a power conditioner...
BTW, with the lightning/storm it isn't odd to have a spike on just one of the phases from a main shore line...
Did you get it from a company or a person? That was my next purchase. Mother fucker.
Waiting to hear back from the seller.
