Oh!Darkness!

I just read something in the Sep07 issue of C&D that made me simply cringe ~ and it's up there in your part of the country.

Ever heard of the Eye Rock 500 in Lebanon?

omg!!!
que???

I'll guess by your response that's gonna be a No.

I was reading this article in Car & Driver about this race that apparently originally got sponsored by some radio station.

The radio station no longer is a part of it because their management is afraid of potential lawsuits (wait and see why!) but the race became a bit of an annual tradition in its own right so it still happens once a year.

'Tis called the Eye Rock 500.

Blind (completely) drivers with sighted navigators racing an on oval dirt track.

The name of the race is an interesting play on words, though.

I don't know if any of you guys have caught where I've mentioned having a prosthetic right eye due to a childhood accident.

Well, I do.

The fella who makes my eye prostheses has one himself.

Well, as there exists a very limited number of people in the entire US qualified to make ocular prothetics those who do it well tend to be of above-average wealth.

Terry, my "eye guy" for lack of a better term, drives a Porsche 911GT2 with personalized plates that read EYE DO.

He thinks he's amusing...
