My pioneer head unit was slow to load mp3s, but it was slow to load regular cds too. My kenwood is much faster.

Ive got the 7998 in now, still not that fast.

I use ExactAudioCopy to encode my mp3 CD's... it's the best encoder I have found. It's VBR and analyzes every frame of the audio to decide whether or not it should encode at a higher or lower bitrate...

It yeilds excellent SQ, and I've fooled many audiophiles with some EAC ripped CD's.

I've done an A/B comparison with regular CD-Audio (Via a high quality Arcam transport, and Rotel DSP, Nordost and Straightwire cables, Rotel Amplifier, and B&W 700series mains) and a Pioneer Elite DVD-Audio/SACD player. Blindfolded.

Believe it or not, me and a few other "audiophiles" preferred the sound of the CD Audio as opposed to the DVD-Audio...

It was nuts.
