Crispy coils ok?

I have been running too much juice through this single 8 for a few days. I could smell it and would turn it down. But today I pulled it outta vic's box and pit the pair in my new box. I noticed it's a little crispy looking. Is it gonna be ok? Or is it permanently scarred. Also , it still plays just fine does this crispy coil hurt performance? I have a little less power going to it now and set my gains a little safer now. Will it be ok?

when the coil gets a lil stinky thats no biggie if ya back off but when ya char it you have damaged it. what will happen if the impedence will change slightly and coil can come unraveled...

Lol ur gonna cook them....were the subs new when u got them the smell could be glue burning off like usual if not then ur cooking them
I had a single sub running at 600. Now I have a pair running off 800 and it's not stinky anymore. I was cooking it for sure. Just wasn't sure if the charbroiled color would effect the sub in the future at safe power levels.

Do you have any pics of the coil and of the new box?

If they just changed color that should be just fine. Now if they appear to be literally burnt, then that may be a problem.

I have to work tomorrow but should be out of there by 5ish. Shoot me a text and I can come by and have a look and tell you

what I think.

Now even more important, how dose the pair sound???
