Crimping 0GA

I've always just used an ordinary hammer with good results //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

a hammer/ table vise/ vise grip will simply flatten it so you had better solder it as well as there is still a possibility that the wire can be pulled out.

Whoever said solder is not conductive is correct however solders main purpose is not to conduct electricity but to mechanically hold a connection together thus that statement does not matter

a proper crimping tool such as the one below is much better then any of the above and is not too expensive. I believe mine was $50

soldering makes the connection brittle and is not the best way to do it.

Table vise has always worked for me. Gotta make sure that you tighten, turn it, tighten it, turn it, etc. so the terminal wraps around it tight on all sides.

Just completed the "Big 3" with 0/1 gauge...used my workbench table vise...worked AWESOME! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Proper crimping tool is recommended because from my experienceyou can damage the wire if you hammer away at it,

plus who said car audio is cheap:rolleyes:
I'm into "multi-tasking" tools, and my table vise is DEFINITELY a multi-tasker...including crimping big *** wire. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i use a medium sized hammer, put the terminal on concrete or a solid work bench, hit it with the rounded side of the hammer to start an indention. then i take a punch, about 3/8" around, center it in the indention i made, and pound that most of the way through the wire. never had any come loose, and i've tugged on them pretty hard to check, even from a vice.
