it didnt really sound like smoke detectors to me. Sounds like water dripping into a puddle. Could be from the basement. Remember that house has some weird angles and no interior (carpet, furniture, etc) so sound bouncing around in there is gonna do some wierd things. I would deff go into the basement, but who knows you could end up like the saw movies.
