creating music... pc, winxp...

ok. if anyone has heard of the music that "shpongle" puts out, or "hallucinogen"... i want to make music with that kind of distinctiveness, but without all the weird ****. maybe add in some bass, do a twist on it somehow. i dont know, but my question:

i know to make and produce your own music, you have to have a lot of skill with various programs. i've heard a lot about fruity loops, reason, and some other one i downloaded but forget what it was. anyway, can someone guide me in a direction as far as any kind of tutorials, guides, etc to learn the basics of creating music with said program?

Cakewalk is a good beginners program... Just for understanding sequencing. But I'd skip that and try understanding FLStudio and Reason. I've used both and it's really just a matter of taste and investing the time to learning how to tweak. ProTools is one of the industry standards that you can either try to start with or graduate to. It's useless without an external sound source though. However, it does let you plug in FLStudio and Reason and whatever other program you want so that you can have one big cohesive production with all the programs you want... that is if your cpu can take it. It's all unnecessary though. I'd say sample the programs and see which ones fit you best. And as for tutorials, there are a lot of site with people attempting to teach. Some of them **** creatively, but they may still show you how to do something you didn't know was possible. Do a search on Youtube, Google search, and a site that is okay sometimes is war beats:

i got a great reason tutorial off torrentz, i mostly use cubase, (which is now enuendo) found a tutorial for that as well

My buddy uses a Casio portable keyboard, to come up with a beat he wants, then mixes it with Audacity, and some other program.

one last thing... for me the best thing i did was bought a $80 dollar drum machine from a pawn shop (boss with old roland 808 in it) and learned basic beat structure, quantizing, bars, bpm, etc. it helped alot. i use alot of analog equipment then mix it together with vst devices in enuendo.
